Aquatics

Swim Lessons and Swim Team

Circus and Gymnastics (September Classes will Start on 9/17)

Beginning Circus Arts and Floor Gymnastics (ages 5-12)
Coach Olivia Lehrman teaches you the basics of floor gymnastics, tumbling, and circus arts. Learn how to walk on globes, tumble on the inflatable air track, and try out the Spanish web aerial. More info: josh@apjcc.org or 408.357.7447.

Advanced Circus Arts and Floor Gymnastics (ages 7-12)

Dance

The APJCC Dance Academy's classes run throughout the school year and are ongoing, so you can start anytime. We offer tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, combo, musical theater, ballroom, zumbatonic and more. All levels, beginners through advanced.

Fitness

NEW! Bizzy Bodies (grades K-3)
This class features fitness activities that kids love. You can look forward to a very wide variety of activities! We use unique equipment and include many different sports, movement and imagination activities, obstacle courses, tumbling, balance beam work, hula hoops, aerobics and much more. We work on team building and good sportsmanship. We focus on having fun while we get our exercise each day. As a bonus, kids will learn the names of their muscles and bones too! Athletic Conditioning (ages 10+)
Need to step up your game? Looking for an additional workout to add to your regular training regime? Join a group of athletes at your level for a weekly workout that enhances your overall athleticism and includes elements of stability, strength, agility, speed, flexibility, and overall conditioning. Sessions are taught by our Certified Athletic Trainers who have the education (degrees and nationally recognized certifications) and the experience to help you take your body to the next level. Separate classes are available for middle school and high school athletes. More info: erinm@apjcc.org.


Speed Training for Athletes (ages 10+)
Need to get an edge over the competition? These individual sessions incorporate the different dynamics of speed training: explosiveness, power, agility, endurance, stride length, and form. Work with an experienced speed training professional who will tailor your workouts based on your specific running form and individual goals. Specialized Fitness Professional Rates apply. Youth Fitness Program (ages 10-13)
Children ages 10-13 years old can learn to use the Fitness Center in a safe and effective manner through this 5-session program. (For children 10-12, this program is REQUIRED in order to be admitted to the Fitness Center. After completing the program, children can work out with parental supervision.)

During the first four sessions, your child will learn about different components of exercise including flexibility, cardiovascular, strength training, balance and core training, and safe use of the equipment. During the 5th, individually scheduled session, they will be taken through a practical examination with the instructor. Dates and times are based on participant request and instructor availability.

Cost: Private instruction $235 CM. Groups of two or more, $200 CM, $250 SM/NM. More info: erinm@apjcc.org

Martial Arts

Martial Arts (ages 5-12)
Join Coach Linderman, our certified Martial Arts instructor, for youth martial arts classes focusing mainly on Tae Kwon Do. Learn martial art techniques plus life lessons such as discipline and respect. There is a $50 additional fee each time your child tests for a belt (belt tests are optional). NEW! Krav Maga for Youth (ages 5-10 years)
Krav Maga is the official self-defense system of the Israel Defense Forces but also has been taught to thousands of civilians in Israel and other countries. Krav Maga is built on natural movements and instincts, so everyone can learn and practice. No special skills or prior martial arts training needed. More info: groupfitness@apjcc.org or 408.357.7480.

Parent/Child Krav Maga (ages 5-10, with a parent)
Krav Maga (pronounced Krahv Muh-GAH ) is a unique Israeli form of ‘combat’ training intended to build the mental and physical aspects of a person’s self-defense mechanism. It is the official self-defense system of the Israel Defense Forces and also has been taught to thousands of civilians in Israel and other countries. Krav Maga is very efficient and teaches ways to deal with any attack or fighting situation. For details about our Parent/Child Krav Maga classes, see the Krav Maga page.

Opera

Bayshore Lyric Opera: Opera for Kids (ages 5-16)
Have you ever wanted to perform an opera as a singer, dancer, or both? Bayshore Lyric Opera Company offers the chance for kids to perform in one of the world’s most popular fairy tales, The Child and the Spells. This opera is filled with a gorgeous and funny collection of characters, including a duo of meowing cats, arias for a teacup and a sofa, with interpolations of jazz and even Puccini. The principal roles are sung by professional opera singers, and the chorus, dance scenes and soloists will be performed by the kids. For ages 5-16 years old. All participants will receive a part.

Parents Day Off

Have the day off from school? Come hang out in the JCC's youth lounge, Club J, for a fun-filled day of supervised activities. Full day (9:00am-3:30pm) and half-day (9:00am-12:30pm) options are available, as well as extended care (8:00-9:00am and 3:30-6:00pm).

Cost for a full day is $50 CM/SM, $65 NM. Half day is $40 CM/SM, $50 NM. Extended Care cost is $15 CM/SM per day or $20 NM per day and covers 8:00-9:00am and 3:30-6:00pm.

Upcoming dates for preschool-age children and grades K-5 are 9/7, 9/28, 9/29, 10/5, 10/6 and 11/2. Also 11/3 and 11/4 for K-5th grade only.

Science

NEW! MAD Science (grades K-5)
Hop on board the chemistry express for a high-speed science experience! Perform instantaneous experiments in this fast-paced one hour class on split-second reactions that go like mad! In partnership with Yavneh Day School, the JCC is proud to present its first series of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) programs. STEAM: Tinkering (K-1st Grade)
Students will be engaged in learning how things work, building or creating new artifacts, and exploring many scientific and engineering concepts. As good scientists, kids will keep a journal where they will draw and write about their discoveries! STEAM: Jr. First Lego League (grades 2-3)
Jr. First Lego League is focused on building an interest in science and engineering in children. Junior First® Lego® is a hands on program designed to capture young children's curiosity and direct it toward discovering how science and technology impact the world around them. STEAM: First Lego League (grades 4-8) *Please Note Day of this program has changed to Wednesdays!*
Introduces younger students to real-world engineering challenges by building Lego-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and instructors, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society. Students get to:

  • Design, build, test and program robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology
  • Apply real-world math and science concepts
  • Research challenges facing today's scientists
  • Learn critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills
  • Participate in tournaments and celebrations

Soccer

Soccer at the JCC is run by the PSA Royals, a nationally accredited U.S. Club Soccer Academy that offers soccer lessons for ages 3.5-5 years, an instructional recreational league for ages 4-9 years, and competitive team play for U7-U18.
