От Сиона до Силикона: Russian Jews of Silicon Valley

Our Russian Language programming is run by Rabbi Ilana Baird. Rabbi Ilana has served communities in Russia, Germany, Israel, and the United States.  She founded a liberal synagogue in Haifa and is a graduate of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s Israeli Rabbinical Seminary program. Torah Study in Russian
Every Tuesday, 10:00am-11:30am  (No class February 2nd)
Come drink tea and enjoy learning Torah with Rabbi Ilana Baird. All ages and knowledge backgrounds are welcome. In Activity Room B at the JCC. Free!

HEDER, for children 4-9 years old
HEDER - (Hebrew Educational Extracurricular program for Russian speaking kids) is a program designed to acquaint your children with the Jewish Culture and the Hebrew Language in an engaging learn-through-play format. The program is intended for children aged 4 -9 (split into two age groups 4-6 and 7-9) and will be conducted in Russian. Each meeting will be broken down into two sections. Approximately 40 minutes of Jewish studies will be followed by 45 minutes of arts and crafts in the context of the lesson. We welcome, and encourage, parents to volunteer. Come forth with your creative fun ideas for projects and activities! Additionally, as part of our program, we will celebrate Shabbat and Holidays together, inviting the community to join us in the festivities.

The cost for the entire year of HEDER is $135/year for the first child and $15 for each additional child.

Club Noar --our youth club for children from 10 to 12 years old.
Children from Russian speaking Jewish families will get together and will have interesting discussions, debates, various projects and lots of fun. The program is held in English. The program is led by Rabbi Ilana Baird and Diana Alper.
The cost for the entire year of Club Noar is $135/year for the first pre-teen and $15 for each additional pre-teen.
 
The next meeting of Club Noar is Sunday, February 6th, from 5:00-6:30pm. RSVP to yulianna@apjcc.org

Join us to watch Zero Motivation, the critically acclaimed Israeli zany, dark, and comedic portrait of everyday life for a unit of young, female soldiers. Tamara Klingon will answer questions about her role in the film, her work in the indie theater group "Tziporela" and life as a Russian-speaking actress in Israel.

Rabbi Ilana Baird leads a monthly discussion in Russian as part of Congregation Beth David's Netivot Haneshemah: Pathways of the Soul lecture series. Join us for our personal exploration of Jewish prayer and learning occurring in tandem with the congregation's traditional Shabbat morning service.
 
 
College Knowledge with Elena Mikhailova

The program is intended for Russian-speaking families.
 
Understanding high school and college admissions issues is often an overwhelming and time-consuming process for students and their families, especially for those who are not too familiar with the US system of education.  
 
No matter whether your child is looking for a selective private university or a public school, this college series will help you get the answers.  Come and learn how to help your child succeed in high school and beyond.
 
Jewishnik
Krav Maga with David Kadosh
Sunday, February 28th, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
 
David Kadosh is Executive Director Western Region of the Zionist Organization of America. He will be talking about the Zionist Movement as well as teaching Krav Maga, a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defense Forces that consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from aikido, judo, boxing and wrestling along with realistic fight training.
