Kif Kef (extended care)

Kif Kef is an enriching extended care program offered as an option for children attending our preschool. Kif Kef means "extra fun" in Hebrew! It is our goal to provide a nurturing, safe environment in which children have opportunities to expand their world through play and hands-on interaction with a variety of materials.

Kif Kef Hours
Morning Kif Kef hours are 7:30-8:30am. Afternoon Kif Kef hours are 12:00-6:00pm.

Contracting for Kif Kef
We require that you sign up for Kif Kef by completing a contract for each month. Contracts must be turned in to the Preschool Office on or before the due date indicated on the contract. We organize, prepare, and staff Kif Kef based on Contracts received on the due date, therefore, late contracts will not be accepted. Contracts are placed in your child’s folder at least one week prior to the due date. Payments must accompany your contract. Kif Kef is not available for children enrolled in our Barvazim class. Additionally, contract time is non-transferable and non-refundable.

Kif Kef on a Drop-in Basis
Each day Kif Kef enrollment and staffing is evaluated to determine whether additional space is available. You are welcome to inquire about additional space in Kif Kef on the day you require additional hours to see if space is available. Drop-in care is not available for children enrolled in our Barvazim class.

Late Fees
If you arrive to pick up your child after closing time, 6:00pm (or 12:00 or 3:00pm on early closure days), according to the APJCC clock, you will be charged a fee of $10 for the first 5 minutes and $1 for every minute thereafter.

It is expected that you will arrive to pick up your child on time. If you are going to be late, we require that you inform the Preschool Office by phone. If no one answers, please leave a message. You will be billed for any additional time your child spends in Kif Kef at the drop-in rate. If we do not receive a phone call advising us of your inability to arrive on time, you will be billed at DOUBLE the drop-in rate.

Rest and Nap in Kif Kef
There is a rest time for all children staying in Kif Kef past 1:30pm. Rest time is a great way for children to relax and have a “down time” during a fun-filled, busy day.

Children who nap should have a crib-sized fitted sheet and a blanket from home. This bedding will be sent home at the end of each week for laundering. For health reasons, we do not allow bottles at preschool. However, a pacifier is an acceptable sleep aid. If your child needs one, please send it with his/her bedding in a labeled Ziploc bag. Nap time begins between 12:45 and 1:00 and ends between 2:45 and 3:00pm.

Snacks and Food during Kif Kef
An afternoon snack is given to all children contracted for Kif Kef past 3:00pm. Throughout the afternoon, we have found that children feel hungry at varied times of the day. With the exception of rest time, children are able to eat from their lunch at any time during their stay in Kif Kef. With that in mind, you may wish to send some extra items in your child’s lunch.

For additional information about Kif Kef, please refer to your Parent Handbook or contact the Preschool Office.
