Jewbilee! A Day of Jewish Learning
The JCC is proud to be a part of the Initiative on Jewish Peoplehood, presenting educational and cultural programs that explore Jewish heritage, identity, and community. The initiative is co-funded by the Koret Foundation and the Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture.
Jewbilee Jewish Day of Learning is made possible, in part, by a generous gift from Bonnie Slavitt Moore and Jack Moore.
THANKS TO THE MORE THAN 500 PEOPLE WHO ATTENDED JEWBILEE 2015. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR (1/31/16)! SEE PHOTOS.
$10 general admission, $8 students/seniors/kids, ages 4 and under are free.
Kosher food and childcare included in the ticket price.
Jewbilee is a full afternoon of classes, workshops, and performances for all ages. The afternoon is divided into sessions, with many classes, workshops and performances happening simultaneously during each session. You choose what you want to do.
The Jewbilee ideal is that the entire Jewish community can come together for a day under one roof, despite our many differences, and celebrate being Jewish and what that means to each of us.
Through a diverse program lineup--including rabbis from all denominations, professors from various Bay Area colleges and universities, students, teachers, artists, cooks and performers--our goal is to present a diversity of Jewish beliefs, political orientations, cultures and experiences.
Jewbilee is a day to try on a different Jewish hat; a new idea, a new practice, a new conversation.
The food at the 2015 Jewbilee was provided by L'Chaim Sushi, the Bay Area's only kosher and sustainable sushi provider. L'Chaim Sushi is under Orthodox supervision and certified by the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch. There will be a live sushi bar featuring delicious rolls (including vegetarian options) and sashimi, as well as a grilled cheese bar--perfect for the kids or to grab and go. There will also be a separate salad bar provided by House of Bagels. This food will be available all day for no extra cost.
